If you visited the Helenenhof in the last two years, then there’s a good chance you’ve already at least met Luisa. And if you know her at all, then you probably understand what a enrichment she is for the Helenenhof.
We've spent the whole of last season and this season working with, and indeed sharing our (not so expansive) living space with Luisa, and if you read our open letter from March, you already know that her presence has been a bright spot in what was, in many ways, a pretty heavy year on the Helenenhof.
Last year, we reached out to all of you to help support Luisa financially, by opening a god-parent program, in which individuals, couples, families, associations or any group of people each sponsored her with a month’s finances.
And it was a huge success! So much so, that we had a waiting list for the 2025 season!
Here's how it works: The Helenenhof provides Luisa with the roof and walls that keep her dry and warm, and with the nourishment for sustaining her physical strength.
But in order to function within this society, we all also require financial resources. That's where the god-parents come in to directly sponsor her in this area. Last year, we set the god-parenthood contribution at 500€ per month.
However, one thing that has changed since last year is that Luisa has turned 23, meaning she can no longer be covered by her parents’ medical insurance. Because she now carries this additional financial responsibility, we’ve decided to leave the contribution more open-ended this year.
So while the god-parenthood contribution is still 500€, god-parents are welcome to give more, according to desire and ability. And moreover, anyone who would like to contribute additional finances will be included in the list below (anonymity is also allowed).
At the time of the last update, we opened the god-parent program only through the month of October, because it wasn't clear whether she would be staying at the Helenenhof past that point.
As of this update, we do know that she will be here through the winter. We already had (another) short waiting list, so November and December are already covered. And we are now accepting god-parents to fill in the remaining months of January and February. We'll keep you updated on what happens after that.
